Do you have a large group of people? If so then you can find 6 picnic tables grouped together in the back of the park behind the Otis House. They are under a large live oak tree that is covered with moss. Great place to take some pictures.
There are also some picnic tables around some ponds and by the river that make a perfect place to picnic and fish at the same time. These tables are also located behind the Otis House. The cool, crystal-clear waters of the Tchefuncte River yield bass, bluegill, white perch, and bream near the park area in the picture to the left. Freshwater fishing from the river bank or a boat offers unmatched delights for even the most casual fisherman.
Just two miles away by road and a few minutes by water is the Madisonville public boat launch. Many visitors use the launch for access to the calm waters of the Tchefuncte River or the exhilarating expanse of Lake Pontchartrain. So you have your choice of fresh water fishing or saltwater fishing. Just be careful when going out into the lake. Storms can come up quickly and the lake can get very rough in a matter of minutes.
